Clean Stone & Drainage Aggregate
Learn where coarse open-graded stone helps and why it differs from a compactable driveway surface.

6A clean limestone
Coarse stone with little fine material leaves connected spaces that allow more water movement through the layer.
Where it may help
It may suit selected drainage layers, coarse aggregate applications, or areas where an open stone structure is useful.
Why it may not suit the top surface
Without fines, clean stone does not bind into a smooth drive and can roll under turning tires.
Water still needs an outlet
Clean stone alone does not correct a flat grade, trapped water, or an unsuitable base.
